How to Play Lagos Life
Your first day, in order.
Quick answer
Open the game and create an account with a username and a password. Pick an origin and traits, watch the six needs in the bottom left corner, and take Help at the Buka for your first ₦1,750. Then get a job from the phone and finish the whole shift.
Open your account
Your life is kept under a username and a password you choose, at least six characters long. The game saves in your browser as you play and syncs that save to the server, so signing in with the same username and password on another device brings your character back. The main menu holds a backup you can restore, and the login screen can recover an older account.
- Never give your password to another player.
- Log out from the main menu if you are on a shared device.
- Same username and password elsewhere means the same life.
Pick an origin and traits
Setup runs in four screens: look, personality, dream and the birth lottery. The look is cosmetic; the other three decide how you play. Personality gives you two traits out of ten, and each trait says which skill it speeds up. The dream is your long-term goal, from Oga at the Top to a ₦1,000,000 net worth.
- Origin (the birth lottery) is decided once per account: LAPO Baby! starts you with a ₦60,000 loan to repay at ₦12,000 a week, Hustle at level 2, and every skill learning 25% faster, in Mushin or Yaba.
- Traits: Hustler, Foodie, Owambe Spirit, Gym Rat, Smooth Talker, Lazy Bone, Clean Pikin, Night Crawler, Tech Bro or Sis, Musical — pick two.
- Dreams: Oga at the Top, Lekki Landlord (₦1,000,000 net worth), Afrobeats Star (Music 10), Everybody's Padi (4 best friends), Yaba Unicorn (funded at CcHub).
- A new life will not change your origin, so it is worth reading before you tap.

What is on the screen
The top bar carries the day and time, your mood, your cash and how many players are online. The six needs sit bottom left: hunger, energy, hygiene, bladder, fun and social. The phone is bottom right, and along the bottom you have home, the shop, the map and the phone.

Choose where you live
The last step is the home, and it is the first real money decision: each place shows the cash you start with and what it takes from you every week. Rent is paid on Saturday, so a cheap room and a long walk beat a nice flat you cannot keep.
- UNILAG Student, Akoka — start with ₦14,000, ₦1,200 rent a week (student life).
- Face-me-I-face-you, Mushin — start with ₦76,000, ₦2,400 a week (hard start).
- Self-contain, Yaba — start with ₦96,000, ₦6,000 a week (balanced).
- Mini-flat, Lekki Phase 1 — a big spender's address, and the screen says it plainly: work your way there.

A day is 1,440 game minutes
Time moves on its own and the needs fall as it passes. The game clock is not your wall clock, and the day of the week matters as much as the hour, because shifts only open inside a window.
Keep the needs above 20
A need below 20 counts against you. With two or more that low your character builds up neglect, and neglect is what makes them fall ill. At zero energy you pass out where you stand for three hours, and a bad collapse ends at General Hospital with a ₦15,000 bill.
- Eat before hunger bottoms out.
- Sleep before energy reaches zero.
- Shower and use the toilet when those bars dip.
- Fun and social feed your mood, so they are not optional.
Earn your first money
Help at the Buka pays ₦1,750 for 90 minutes and asks for no skill at all. Help Mama B Serve pays ₦650, and Carry Load ₦2,250 for two hours. Those three pay a flat amount; the gigs that scale with a skill are listed with the skill they use.
Get your first job
Open the phone, tap Jobs and look at what you can enter. Turn up inside the shift window and stay to the end: leaving early pays part of the shift only.

Walking is free, the rest is not
Trekking costs nothing but takes time; everything with an engine charges a flat amount plus a rate for each kilometre. Your own car has no flat charge, so it wins on long runs rather than short hops.
Skills run from 0 to 10
Every level is slower to reach than the one before, so the first points come quickly and the last take real work. Nothing else on this page matters as much as picking one skill and staying with it.
Lagos Life is free to play in a browser.
