Nepo Baby vs LAPO Baby
The birth lottery, and what each side of it actually starts with.
Quick answer
Lagos Life decides your origin once, before your first day, and you cannot reroll it. Nepo Baby starts with ₦500,000, a Toyota Prado and a furnished Lekki flat with Daddy paying the rent, plus Charisma at 2. LAPO Baby starts with ₦60,000 against ₦72,000 owed, repaid at ₦12,000 every week, Hustle at 2, every skill learned 25% faster, and an address in Mushin or Yaba.
One spin, decided for good
Before your first day, the game asks one question: “Every Lagosian is born into something. What was your Sim born into?” The wheel flips between 👶🏾💰 and 🏦, lands on one, and that is that.
The line under the result is the one people miss: “Decided once for your account. Starting a new life won't change it.” Tap Start a new life all you like — the same origin walks back in with you.
If the lottery cannot be reached at that moment, your Sim simply starts self-made. That is a connection problem on the day, not a third option.
Nepo Baby
“Daddy knows people.” The perk list reads like a Lagos group chat's dream:
The rest is in the details. The car is a Toyota Prado and it is yours from the first minute — the keys are handed over and driving mode is already set to car. Charisma starts at 2. The flat comes stocked: solar, laptop, bookshelf, mirror, guitar, dumbbells, radio and plants.
Banking also starts at level 2, so the Branch Manager title is real on day one, before you have worked a shift.
- Fully furnished Lekki flat — Daddy pays the rent
- Your own car 🚙 (just buy fuel)
- Branch Manager at Daddy's friend's bank, from day one
- ₦500,000 pocket money
LAPO Baby
“Self-made hits different.” The LAPO start is a loan, not a gift, and the game is upfront about it:
The ₦60,000 lands in your hand as cash, but ₦72,000 is owed — ₦12,000 a week for six weeks. The learning speed is the part that keeps paying after the loan is gone, because every career and every promotion in the game runs on a skill.
- ₦60,000 LAPO loan to start — repay ₦12,000 every week
- Hustle skill starts at 2
- You learn every skill 25% faster
- Start in Mushin or Yaba and work your way to Lekki

Which start is easier?
Nepo is the easy first year. ₦500,000 in pocket money, no rent to find, a car waiting and Charisma already at 2 — nothing forces you to earn anything in week one. It is the origin for playing the way the billboards look.
LAPO puts a ₦12,000 payment in every week from the start, so your first six weeks have a bill in them. What you buy with that pressure is speed: every skill learns 25% faster, and skills are what unlock careers, promotions and better pay. The loan ends; the 25% does not.
Around the table, “Nepo Baby” and “LAPO Baby” were a Nigerian joke long before this game made them a coin toss. The game just refuses to let you reflip it.
